INTRODUCTION TO KARTING

Course Description

A good starting point for those who are interested to go racing this will give them a feel of what karting really is like. Although a kart looks small, the power and G-force that it can produce is sometimes overwhelming. This basic course deals with: Safety gear, Kart parts, Track driving, Braking Points, Racing line and Common driving mistakes.

This course is offered for kids ages 7 to 50 years old. Private sessions also available (Please call for details).

Venue: TBA (Fun Karts Only)

Duration: One Day Class

Class Size: Minimum of 8 students

ADVANCED KART RACING

Course Description

This course gives the participants a deeper grasp of the fundamentals of Karting racing. Here students will get the chance to use real race karts on a national circuit. More race specific training shall be taught here such as late braking, early and late apexes, reading the track conditions and finding the racing line at a new track. Feedback will later be given to the driver to improve lap times. Optional Data Logging can be done for a minimal fee.

Venue: Carmona Circuit Philippines, Cavite (CCP) or Boomland (Roxas BLVD) – Use of Race Karts

Duration: One Day Class

BASIC CIRCUIT RACING

Course Description

Introduction to Racing gives individuals a feel of what racing is all about. It focuses on the basic techniques and application. It is an orientation on the speed, the equipment and discipline needed in racing. It will start with a short classroom session then orientation with the equipment, familiarization of the track and practice sessions with and without instructors in the car with you. Basic lessons are: Threshold Braking, Downshifting, Racing Line and Track Lapping. The Tuason Racing School, headed by JP Tuason, will conduct the course.

Venue: Subic International Raceway or Clark Circuit

Duration: One Day Class

Class Size: Minimum of 12 students

Course Description

Advanced Racing Course is for individuals who are seriously thinking of going into racing or for people who want to feel a more in depth racing experience. It promises a fast pace experience which will require concentration, faster hand & eye coordination and a good grasp of the fundamentals of racing. The course consists of track lapping sessions; passing techniques and race start procedures. It is a requirement that you take the BASIC CIRCUIT RACING course.

Venue: Subic International Raceway or Clark Circuit

Duration: One Day Class

Class Size: Minimum of 12 students

Course Description

Basic Formula Racing Course is for individuals who are seriously thinking of going into single seater racing or for people who want to feel a more in depth racing experience. It promises a fast paced experience in an open wheel race car which will require concentration, faster hand & eye coordination and a good grasp of the fundamentals of racing. The course consists of basic single seater operation, track lapping sessions and refining the racing line in a rear wheel drive racecar. It is a requirement that you take the BASIC and ADVANCED CIRCUIT RACING course.

Venue: Subic International Raceway or Clark Circuit

Duration: One Day Class

Class Size: Minimum of 3 students

BASIC DRIFTING

Course Description

Basic Drifting gives individuals a feel of what the sport is all about. It focuses on the basic techniques and application. It will start with a short classroom session then orientation with the equipment, and practice sessions with and without instructors in the car with you. Basic lessons are: Initiating the drift, 360s, Figure 8s and the drift course. The fundamentals of drifting will be tackled along with hands-on training to ensure quick and easy learning. Training will be done in the unique Mazda BT50 Drift Truck. The world’s first diesel drift pick-up.

Venue: Clark Expo Parking Area

Duration: One Day Class

Class Size: Minimum of 4 students

Top 3 unforgettable racing victories?
Only 1 victory - the Endurance race. Great race given we overcame faster competitors, not being able to engage 1st and 2nd gears 45 minutes into the race. The racing was close right until the last minutes of the race

What got you into racing?
Always been a petrol head, so going was racing was always a desire. There is no substitute for wheel to wheel racing

What bad driving mannerisms....?
Drive less quickly on the streets now since I already get my fix on the track.

When did you first drive a Ford race car?
When my brother and I attended the TRS Basic Circuit Driving class.

What made it unique among other manufacturers?
Ford-TRS has the only arrive and drive program. This makes it so much easier for newbies to get training and start racing.

What is it that you like about the Ford Focus 1.8?
The car has at least 20% more power vs the older race car, the handling is fantastic, it looks great.

During what instances do you need your teammates the most during a race?
For a sprint race, you are pretty much alone during the race. The team contributes in setting up the car during practice and qualifying. For endurance races, the need is all throughout. We need the teammates during the entire race. Everyone helps tracking lap times, signaling the driver, assisting during the pit stops and driver changes.
