About Tuason Racing School

Established in 1999, Tuason Racing School (TRS) is the first and only professional racing school in the country, aiming to provide a complete ladder to motorsports and drivers training. TRS offers instructions in go-karts, circuit car racing, formula car and responsible motoring program. It is the only racing school that offers courses complete with all teaching materials and vehicles on world class facilities.

Headed by multi Awarded race car driver JP Tuason, son of Racing Legend Arthur Tuason, whose vision is to develop motorsports as a choice career where Filipinos can excel in internationally. Together with his wife Jeanette, underwent research and training from top racing schools abroad such as Skip Barber, Richard Petty, Michael Andretti plus his successful 18 year racing career competing in karting, circuit cars, rally cars, formula toyota and Formula 3. Together with his younger brother, Michael, He created a curriculum that is fit to all racing enthusiast here and abroad.

JP Tuason has been involved in the motorsports and automotive industry for over 22 years. He understands the challenges and excitement of racing first hand, having won three local karting championships and representing the Philippines in numerous international events including the World Finals in Japan and Egypt.

JP moved on to compete in rallyecross and touring cars. Several more titles followed including the novice driver of the year award. JP then made the jump to Formula cars, backed by Toyota and Tag Heuer. This successful step up produced numerous podium finishes and wins at the Shell-Filinvest Grand Prix in the Philippines and the Asian Formula Challenge in China. In 2003, at age 27, JP broke through to Formula 3 and has been a regular in the Asian Formula 3 series competing in Japan, Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines. In 2005 and 2006 wins came from races in China and Philippine F3 races.

A firm believer in the continuous pursuit of knowledge, JP has attended top racing schools in the U.S. where he received advanced instruction from world-famous institutions such as Skip Barber Racing School, Richard Petty Driving and Michael Andretti Speed Lab. This training and knowledge led to the vision and successful introduction of the Tuason Racing School.

Another aspect of JP’s motoring career is in promoting Road Safety and Defensive Driving. Over the last 8 years JP has trained with the US National Safety Council on Defensive Driving, Luxembourg National Driving Academy and the Peugeot Road and Rally School. JP gained valuable experience working with Ford Philippines, its dealerships and local insurance companies. Over 20,000 participants have attended driver training seminars lectured by JP in the last 8 years.

Prior to founding the Tuason Racing School, JP began his corporate career as VP Marketing for Mixit Colour Systems, a company specializing in providing European automotive paint and technical and paint contracting services. His customers included more than 20 automotive manufacturers and dealers, including Toyota Quezon City, Honda Makati, Ford Balintawak and Volvo Makati. In 1998, Mixit was acquired by Akzo Nobel, a multi-billion dollar Dutch company. At Akzo Nobel Philippines, JP was national sales manager until 2002, where he was responsible for business development, managing a staff of 14 and 35 customers.

JP graduated from De La Salle University with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. He has been married for 10 years to Jeanette Ipapo-Tuason, Vice President for TRS & DDA for Marketing and Business Development. They have 2 kids, Arthur, 10 and Alysha, 5.

Mike Tuason the Vice President of Operations and a professional racer for 17 years have joined several racing events such as Karting 1993 to 2005, Cadet Champion 1993-94, ICA Champion 1997, Rotax Max Challenge Champion 2004, Touring Cars 1998 to present, PTCC Champion Class B 2008, Formula Toyota 1999-2001, Asian Formula 3 2004-2005.

He considers the 1997 1st Filipino to win an international kart race , the 2008 Touring Car Races in the only diesel race car in the Phils and the 2010 1st Drift Race held in Clark as his most unforgettable races.

However as a race school teacher Mike Tuason learned that you need to be able to communicate to the student and discuss things in a simple manner because you have to keep in mind that they are not yet in the same level of understanding compared to his experiences. He has also became more mature and confident because of all the titles, race wins and experience under his belt

As the VP of Operations he make sure all the equipment is working properly and organize logistics for every event to ensure everything runs smoothly before race starts. Unforgettable moment for Mike was with his father, Arthur Tuason who always supported them with their racing career, without him we wouldn’t be where we are today, who have always taught them to give respect for each other.
